    Hello Jess M.

Sounds as if you are all having an amazing time: shelter building and messing around in a river – what a perfect day! Looking forward to hearing all about your adventures when you’re back (we can’t wait!! :-)).

I’m just on my way back from a work dinner, sending this on the tube so hope it goes and forgive any typos!

    Love Dad xox

    PS random guess… 1934

  3. Vicky and Ian says:

Hello Louie and year 6 troopers!

So glad to hear you had pancakes this morning (I know you were really looking forward to this Louie – were they as good as mine? Be careful how you answer!) And v glad to hear that the children are sleeping in a bit more (see Louie, it’s not just us that get grumpy when woken at the crack of dawn!)

Well, your days sound an awful lot more exciting than life back home – we’ve got up, gone to work/home office/school, done “stuff” (to quote you, Louie when I ask what you’ve done at school!), come home/downstairs, done homework/ensured homework is done, eaten and gone to bed. No camp fires for us. (Hope you had marshmallows, by the way.) We need you to come back and liven us up with tales of what you’ve been up to.

Missing you loads! Much love, mummy, daddy & Olivia xxxxxx

PS Thank you Salman. So nice to hear of all the day’s exploits – hope wifi a bit better today. Our guess for today is… 1932

  4. Nadine Christian says:

    Love
    Mummy, Daddy and Shai

  5. Francesca says:

    Hey Lu,
Sounds like you’re having lots of fun. Building a shelter: very useful stuff, particularly if you continue to hang out with us – I bet it’ll come in useful one day or another when we get lost on a walk. Also, I imagine you with your feet in the river – that must’ve been great. Wish I had mine in the river rather than in my work shoes today. Talking of shoes: this evening Dad and I went climbing and he kept complaining his climbing shoe felt strange. Half way through the evening he finally checked and guess what he found inside the shoe ….? One of your nerf gun bullets, squashed in there!! Goodness knows how it got there. Beano awaiting for you – and so are we.
Lots of hugs and lots of love
    Mum and Dad

  6. Catherine Burkin says:

    Dear Kip,
You have done a lot of stuff today! I’m looking forward to hearing all about your bread making and the camp fire experience. Did you go up to your knees in the river too? It sounds great fun. I bet you were very happy to have a trip to the shop and hope you found something interesting to spend your money on.
Did you spot the deliberate spelling mistake in my last message. Well, when I say deliberateโ€ฆ.โ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜‰
I think it’s time for a joke: What has two humps and wanders around the North Pole? A lost camel.
I wonder what’s in store for you tomorrow? Whatever it is I hope you enjoy yourself and get really muddy.
    Thinking of you my lovely.
    Lots of love
Mum xxxxxxxxx and a squeak from Piggy

  7. Michael Ludlow says:

Hi Wilf, I love the new role. I hope you got a chance to demonstrate your Hopkinson damper bread skills on the open fire?. I am sure a serving of that must be pushing you towards “senior” assistant to the dinner adjudicator.

How did the shelter building go, did you find the electric screwdriver? I am sure it was a great effort, sounds too much fun, we shall have to take your skills to the fore next time we are at the woods.

I imagine Salman will share tonight’s football, Arsenal and super Jack have cruised through tonight’s game. Unfortunately I’m in Zurich so wasn’t there to see it, but sounded convincing and great that wilshere’s back to near his best.

In an attempt to get ahead of the game I shall guess the answer to thursdays qotd as 26. Got to be worth double house points if that’s right! Have a great last couple of days, I’m flying back to London tomorrow now so very much excited to see you arrive back and hear the stories of extreme survival, love Dad

  8. Martyn & Alison Holman says:

    Dearest Molly,

Well no one has posted yet so I must! Another day passes without you in the house, though I think mummy has taken Kwacha upstairs tonight to sleep on the bed. He’ll soon be down!

I hope you enjoyed wading in the river, and I look forward to trying out your whoopee cushion on Archie!

Only one more sleep after tonight. Sleep tight, love you loads.

Daddy, Mummy, Archie, Kwacha & Pula

  9. Martyn & Alison Holman says:

Oh, and our guess is d. 1936 – the year Edward VIII abdicated the throne

  10. Lorraine says:

    The answer is D
Hi Ayman only one day to go
I hope ur having a good day love Dady and me love u xxx

  11. Sarah Allen says:

    Hi Edie
Den building and mucking about in rivers? Reckon you’re having about the best week ever.
It all sounds so much fun. Hopefully you didn’t struggle with curry or BBQ either. Sounds like a good weekend at home.

Lara says: Your room is the tidiest I’ve ever seen it! Hope you’re having a great week. Can’t wait to see you on Friday. You’re going to have a lovely time back at home too! Definitely!

I’d better go to work – but just to say we are still missing you enormously. I’ve nothing to do in the evenings / night times now I’m not popping into your room every 30 mins to check you’re ok!!! I’m sure Bella – or whoever your room mate turned out to be – is checking on you there!!! (via whispering and giggles???)

Loads of love – enjoy this last day of freedom for a long while!! HAHAHA ๐Ÿ™‚
    Mummy – Sarah

  12. Matt Leys says:

    Hello Cora!

So, you’ve been in the river, huh? Tell me one thing….YOU DIDN’T GET YOUR WELLIES WET, DID YOU??? Cuh, I don’t know. It all sounds amazing and fun and Salman tells us it’s going to make you a much better person. Although I think he meant a much WETTER person.

It’s still too quiet without you! We miss you loads but secretly we’re jealous of all the fun you’re having. Not much rest at the weekend I’m afraid, we’re off on a mission to get you-know-who…

Grandma Brenda says hi and has sent you a little present from the seaside. No it’s not a crab. Keep having fun, lovely one, and stay dry! Love you loads and we can’t wait to see you tomorrow. Lots of love, mummy and daddy xxxooo

  13. Matt Leys says:

Hi it’s Trix I knew you’d have fun in the river! Also I think the answer is 1936
    Xxxxxxxxxxxx

  14. Margit Shorten says:

Hi girls, hi mud, hi wet clothes, hi Mr Sticky, or Mr Rocky (there must surely be one of those by now)

Hope you’re having loads of fun, but I’m sure today your teachers will make you catch up on your maths and big write. Four days of fun is a bit much. Unfortunately, there is almost NO news here. Everything is exactly as you left it – neat and tidy. Bentley went to the pub again last night and, having discussed it with him this morning, I think he also wants to take up river studies.
Salman’s posts are very entertaining and we really appreciate them, but how do people know it’s Salman…how?

Well it looks like the sun’s up so go and have fun ๐Ÿ™‚

    Missing you like crazy!
    Mummy, daddy and MrB xxxxxx

  15. Clare Ludlow says:

    We re going for 1932
What a week – it just keeps on giving adventure after adventure!
So Wilf – messages from your brothers – joe begrudgingly admits he misses – you mainly your bowling!
But I suspect more generally. Gil says hope you have a lovely time. Joe got to stroke Evie so that’s progress!
I swam in the ponds yesterday – down to 14 degrees – don’t think I ll make it much longer. They are really hardcore the other women. Nanna and Granddad got caught in the storms on their cruise. Yep poor grandad. Dads back tonight and you tomorrow so slowly restoring the house!
Massives of love – quick note that I m not sure I m looking forward to having a food critic moving back into the house! Better up my game Or you can cook. Enjoy the next couple of days. Miss you Mum xx

  16. Martin (Kip's dad) says:

Sounds like another great day Salman, thank you!
I think the centre was opened in 1936 by duke of york.

Hi Kip! That sounds like a fab day, I hope you have dried off after river study by now, and didn’t swim too far!
I can’t wait to hear all about it and have been thinking of you loads. I’m now wondering what you got in the shop…
have a great day Kip, will be thinking about you. Love dad

  17. Deborah Bennett says:

Hi Oscar and all Year 6
Sounds like another great day – I bet you loved the camp fire Oscar and the walk in the woods – rather you than me in the dark! Thanks to all the team for giving them such a fantastic time.
Can’t wait to pick you up tomorrow and hear all about it- Not sure if you’ll be exhausted or full of energy after all the new experiences.
Enjoy all the fun on Day 4.
    Lots of love Mum xxx

  18. Selina says:

    Thanks for the update Salman.

    Hello Alex!

Sounds like you’ve been having a really good time, river study and shelter building! I can imagine you enjoyed being knee deep in the river.

Yesterday Carsel said “it’s boring without Jubbie” so I think it’s safe to say he’s missing his little brother, and it goes without saying me & dad miss you like crazy.

Hope you had fun with the items you purchased at the shop!

Have a fantastic day son, lots of love Mum,Dad,and Carsel XOXO โค๏ธ

  19. Scarlett peers says:

Hi we really miss you! Do you know that I am starting gymnastics.
    Love Scarlett!

  20. Ali Holman says:

Love reading about the antics, thanks Salman

Hello Molly – it sounds like you are having so much fun and being with all your lovely friends. We miss you madly and the little dogs are lost without you ….. Archie misses having you around and we all hope that you are singing everyone to sleep there – we miss your voice.

Not long now and you will be heading home to us – hooray !

  21. Catherine (Charlotte's mum) says:

    Hi Charlotte and year 6!
Sounds like you’re having an amazing time. We are missing you sooooooooooooooo much. The house is very quiet without you and Pip misses you playing with him.
Can’t wait to see you tomorrow (Friday)
    Mummy xxx

  22. Otis says:

Hi Kenzo! And all of year 6 hope you all are having an awesome time, play safe and make great memories. See you when you get back.

Enjoy yourself and have the best of it. See you tomorrow . โค๏ธMum, Dad and Daisy

  24. Kate Peers says:

Thanks, Salman – sounds like another exciting day! Well done Year 6 for taking on the challenges with adventurous spirit. My guess for the QOTD is 1932. Scarlett went for 1930 and Jackson went for 1936, nearly got them all covered!

Ava! What a fun day you had yesterday. I can’t wait to hear how your shelter building and the river studies went. Good job you had lots of practice at the weekend! Were there any ghost stories told during the walk in the woods? I can only imagine the screaming…

A bit of excitement this morning: Pearl climbed up very high in the conker tree and Daddy was worried she couldn’t get down. We were poised, ready to call the fire brigade to rush to her rescue. Then she came down. Drama over.

We miss you very much and can’t wait to see you tomorrow. Enjoy your adventures today! xoxoxo

  25. PossumMama says:

    Ash!!
It sounds like you are having the most incredible time there, we’re all really jealous. No shelter-building, fire-making, bread-burning or wading in rivers for us- just the normal get up, try to get Thea to eat some breakfast, go to work, do some work, come home and miss you. (Though I think Dad is secretly quite happy that there aren’t any cartoons blaring when he comes home!)
Thea misses you. She says “I miss you, bruvver. I want to give you a cuddle. I want you to come home today but you can’t. I’m going to make a hiding game for when you come home. I love you.”
She had Lucy to herself last night. Poor Lucy had to watch….you guessed it…Moana! And listen to Thea’s rendition of ‘How far I’ll go’…”I am Moaaaaaaannnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!” (have I got you singing it too?)
I hope you have a great time tonight- is this disco night? I wish I could be there to see you shake your toosh.
    You’re home tomorrow!
    Love you most.
    Mummy xxxx
(And Salman- thank you, as ever, for a great blog. Really really REALLY appreciate it. Hope you’re getting to do some of these confidence building exercises too ๐Ÿ˜‰ 1934?)

  26. Rebecca says:

Pancakes for breakfast, shelter building, a river survey, a campfire and an evening walk in the woods. Wow! That’s got to be the best day yet. We can’t match that, although we did treat ourselves to bacon butties for breakfast this morning. Charlie was nearly late for school. Jess M, we need you to get us out of the door on time. You can enjoy a lie-in on Saturday and the breakfast of your choice. We can’t wait to see you tomorrow. All my love, Mum xo

  27. Rebecca says:

We’re not doing very well with Salman’s quiz, but now that Dad’s also taking part, we should have a better chance of earning you some points. I guess 1932.

  28. Rebecca says:

    And Charlie guesses 1936…

  29. Rachel Murphy says:

    Dear Caitlin,
Thank goodness I made you pack your waterproof trousers for the river studies yesterday :-)!!!
Niamh went to choir for the first time and she loved it. I am so looking forward to the carol concert already.
Enjoy your last evening and we will see you tomorrow.

  30. Shabana Fazaldin says:

Hi Sofia hope your having an amazing time.
It’s Friday tomorrow your back yay.

So I managed to get Mitzy which wasn’t easy 10 meat sticks later and lots of dreamies!!
Am going to keep her in for a bit.

Naomi tried to send a message to you but wasn’t successful so am going to write it for her.

I hope you have a wonderful last few hours there and hopefully I’ve won you some house points!!!
Answer to the above question a wild guess 1932.
See you tomorrow love you lots
Mum, Dad, Micky, Kadi and Mitzy

    Hi Sofia

We’ve been reading the blog everyday. It sounds like you’re having so much fun. We are super jealous.

Tomorrow is our last night in Sri Lanka.
We will be sad to come home as it means going back to work, but we are excited to see you and the rest of the Fazaldin gang!
We can’t to hear about your trip, who you shared a room with, your favourite meal, the scariest activity you did, etc!
We’ve eaten so much rice and curry you might not recognise us.
There’s no chocolate here….. I miss it a lot almost as much as I’ve missed you, Micky and Kadi!
I hope your training for our 5K? We have raised over 250 of sponsors.
Am really excited! Will you scoot or run?

Love you lotsNaomi and Andrew (and the crocodiles from Sri Lanka!) xxx

PS am really sorry I don’t know the answer to any of the questions your teacher has been posting!!!

  31. Harriet Jaine says:

Lovely Sylvie – Wow! It sounds as if you’re having an amazing time there. I hope your den building went better than it did when you and I were trying to make that one at Allaleigh in the summer! When you get back you can show me how to do it right.

We miss miss miss having you at home and can”t wait to see you tomorrow. I hope you’re having a lovely time and didn’t get too wet in the river. Did you wear your wellies and waterproof trousers?

Woohoo! We love you so much love Mum, Dad and Belle xxx

  32. Lucy (Cora's mum) says:

    Hello again Cora

I’m taking a late lunch break at my desk ๐Ÿ™ so thought I’d cheer myself up with a look at Salman’s fantastic blog. I think the high-spot of Trixie’s trip last year was going in water over her wellies. There’s nowt so queer as kids, if you ask me. I’d feel very sorry for myself if that happened to me.

In other news I have exciting news that LETTY FRIZZLE has moved to Surrey! I can imagine you looking blank at this but when I tell you that Surrey is much closer to home than Wales . . . you see where I’m going? Well, yes, we’re all going to Surrey. We can scorn the Llanelli travelodge and nip to Surrey and back in a day. Hurrah!

I tried to paste a pic of her but the blog won’t let me. Oh well, we’ll just have to be patient.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow! Can’t wait!

    All my love Mummy xxxx

  33. Lucy (Cora's mum) says:

PS my guess is 1936; when Engelbert Humberdinck was born (I bet Salman and the other staff are already humming ‘Please release me’ under their breath). Also, I’m copying Martyn ๐Ÿ˜‰

  34. Lucia Ringham says:

    Dear Lila,

Sounds like you are all having a great adventure – I love the sound of the river activities… I am wondering how wet did you get and whether you pack enough clothes (oh well)…Anyway, the main thing is that you are having fun while learning loads.

I also like the sound of pancakes for breakfast and bbq chicken for dinner – yum!!

I wonder what your last day will bring – I wish you continue to enjoy yourself and can’t wait to see you tomorrow at 3.30pm!!

Zoe and Sam send you tonnes of love – they really miss you and so do I my darling daughter

Lots of love xx Mum, Zoe y Sam

  35. Celene and Paul says:

    Hi Amelia,

River studies sounds most interesting; thank goodness we sent you off with the water proofs! And bread making too! I look forward to hearing how you will utilise these new found skills back at home; you know I love freshly baked bread ๐Ÿ™‚

It is raining and miserable in London, I hope the weather is better in Kent. Did you enjoy the twighlight walk? And was it dark? Sounds fun, and the sort of thing I would have loved at your age (probably still would now). I hope the campfire included marshmallow toasting, if not we’ll toast some on Friday evening over the gas cooker in the kicthen

Looking forward to seeing you on Friday, when I’m sure you, Daddy and Arabella will be off to the shops to but me a nice big birthday present !!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

love from Mummy, Daddy and Arabella
    xxx

PS my guess for today’s question from Salman is 1934

  36. Esther says:

    Mario

You forgot the copy of “dodg or daar”. I guess that’s lucky: after all today is Frankfurter Thursday and I’m looking forward to the brine.(Or am I?)

Ford asks if you have your towel. And is the fish still working?

Tomorrow you’ll be home. With an iPad… or will….

Lots of love mummy, daddy, iva, Anna, Livia, jonny, camilla, Karen, lynne

  38. Andy Murphy says:

    Hi Caitlin,

The river study sounds great. Shall we go for a swim in the River Lee when you get back? I’ll get your swimming costume ready…

We’re all looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

    Lots of love

    Mum, Dad, Niamh and George

  39. Jackson Peers says:

Hi Sis, I hope you are having a nice time. I hope you are having fun. I love you so much that I have helped Daddy eat the rest of the sweets in your sweet jar so that your teeth don’t get cavities. I am the best brother, aren’t I?

@Andy Murphy – my Dad said he spoke his friend Bryan Frederick Gustaffason (he sometimes calls himself BFG for short) who seems to know a thing or two about sleeping and he said that you are right after all, Caitlin is not a snorer ๐Ÿ™‚ !

    Chelsea, Chelsea

    Love Jackson xxx

  40. Paul McCaffery says:

    Hey Amelia

I’ve enjoyed reading Salman’s superb blogs everyday as I sit on the train on the way to work, and hearing about the previous days activiities has really brought a smile to my boring commute to work.

It sounds like you have all been having a wonderful time with lots of fun activities and adventures. And I hear you’ve had some gourmet food this week, as Wilf has given such glowing feedback on the meals you have all enjoyed. Would you agree? Anyway Pancakes for breakfast is always a winner for us!

Did you enjoy the orienteering or did you get lost with Salman’s group? Either way I’m sure it was fun. I like the idea of the low ropes as it reminded me of our time at GoApe. I wish I could have seen you all in the river study, i imagine you all splashing about and not studying much other than having a lot of fun … I wonder if you made good use of your wellies and waterproofs in the river study

In answer to salman’s question, i not only remember the crystal maze, i always wanted to go on the show and am very keen to hear how much fun it was who was the quiz master.. Did you enjoy the hive as much as I have enjoyed the show in the past?

I can’t wait to hear all about the different activities and experiences and the funny stories about your trip when you arrive home.

Enjoy your last day and evening with your friends and classmates . Arabella mummy and I are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Oh and before I forget the answer to the main quiz i think it is 1936.

    Lots of love

    Daddy xxx

  41. Rebecca says:

Please don’t allow Jess M to realise her full potential when it comes to eating pancakes…

  42. Sarah says:

Hello Emilia, busy day! building camps, making bread and bbq chicken for dinner! I bet you loved that!
Make the most of the last day and we will see you soon.

Daddy said he hopes you are well and having fun!

Make sure you don’t leave anything behind when you pack your case ๐Ÿ™‚
Love , kisses and a big squeeeeeze!!

  43. Hannah Conyerd says:

Hi Charlotte, really missing you but hope you’re having fun. So excited to see you tomorrow when you come back. It’s been boring at home without you! Lots of love Hannah xxxxx

  44. Olivia says:

    Hi Louie,
I hope you are having fun and aren’t causing too much trouble for Christianne, Becca, Tony and Salmon.
Hows the food? are you missing tech? The house is really quiet as I don’t put the TV or radio on like you. Your play station will be having a good rest.
I bet you like the big playing field. Are you very tired, because you are doing lots of activities or are you going to bed early and getting up late …NOT…
    be good
    OLIVIA XXXXXXXXXXXXX ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜‰

  45. Blacker family says:

    Hey Bella,

Campfire & walk in the woods after dark – must have been the highlight of the week!
It does sound like we have to go camping again this year so you can show off your new skills, maybe even leaving tent at home and sleeping in self made shelter, can’t wait! I wonder if I can convince daddy though, might be a hard sell?!
We had an extraordinary day as well , lovely lunch in town & popped in to Buckingham Palace. Not bad for a Thursday?!

I am now counting hours to welcome you back to reality – with freshly baked banana bread, hot chocolate with extra cream & family movie night, how does that sound ?

Daddy sends you his bear hugs, Cassia tickles , Elicia wet licks and from me paljon suukkoja!

    Love you Bluebell!

  46. Rosalie says:

    Lenaaaa!

How are you doing? We can’t wait for you to be back home, and we are very much looking forward to hearing your amazing stories. You are learning some great skills out there, and I bet many of them will be very useful when you become a wildlife biologist later in life :-)!

Our day was less adventurous than yours. Our biggest adventure was that Chiem and I found a beautiful spider web in the garden today, and Mr Spider was out for a walk. I hope he hasn’t creeped into our bed, eeeeek!

We love you to the moon and back – sleep tight and sweet dreams. See you soon, you bright, loving and bubbly curly girl!

Big hugs from Mum, Dad and Chiem

PS Salman, your blog is brilliant! I guess the answer to today’s question is 1932 just because Lena’s favourite number is 2.

  47. Emily Levitt says:

    My guess is 1934!
    Hi Lola,
It really is very quiet here and very tidy without you especially with Freddy sleeping all day and working all night. I can’t wait to hear your news when we see you tomorrow, your activities sound truly fantastic. I am a little envious Lol. I have made it a little less tidy in your room by pulling several sacks of clothes out of the attic for you to sort through, but didn’t think you would mind too much!
Really looking forward to picking you up tomorrow, hopefully both of us.
Fred says “Hope you’re having loads of fun. Sorry I will miss you when you get back. See you at Christmas!!”

Much love Xxxx Mum and Dad

  48. Blacker family says:

And the answer – wild quess, B for Blacker.

    K

  49. Francesca says:

    Hello everyone, hello Luca,
Salman, thank you for your blog – we’ve been really enjoying it. We wanted to wait for the report on Day 4 before writing this evening, but you must be busy dancing your socks off! Disco on Day 4 – you must be exhausted. It was pouring with rain in London today. I hope it wasn’t quite so bad over in Kent – or that your waterproofs held… Wow, you’re all back tomorrow – it feels like ages since you left! We cannot wait to hear all about it.
Sending you lots and lots of love,
Mum and Dad and the kitties
