  1. Amy's family says:

We hope you had a fantastic day. The place seems very quiet without you. Aunty Emma says hi. Lots of love, Mummy, Daddy and Isabel. Xxx

  2. Laura, Declan, Luke and Tolly. says:

Sounds like a great day indeed for the kids! We’re sure you’re surviving very well Patrick! Loud as sixty kids can be we really think the noise levels here at home might be even greater: we expected it to be quite quiet here without you Patrick but Tim and Tinsel have been making the most enormous racket ever since you went. Must be because they miss you! Hope your travel bag will be less drunk than when we last saw it for your journey home… Have a great sleep Patrick and a great day tomorrow!
Love Mummy, Daddy, Luke and Tolly XXXX

P.S. Happy Birthday to Charlotte and Archie!!!

  3. Becca Hamilton-Brown says:

  5. Jessica, Abby & Beau Hewitson says:

    Dear Jodie,

It sounds like you have had a really fun day – we are wondering how your bread turned out?! Were you one of the children who were awake before 7am…? We do hope you slept well. Everything is fine here, Beau had a great time at nursery & is currently sleeping with ALL of her bunnies because she is much smarter than we are!

    We love you very much,

    Mummy, Mumma & Beau.xxx

  6. Lucy says:

    Hello Trix!

It sounds like an action packed day! The shelters look amazing. Was your bread like the ‘damper’ Colin was telling you about? Maybe some things don’t change – it’s over 70 years since Colin was around your age. I wonder if *your* great-niece will be heading off on a trip in 70 years time to make shelters and burn bread?! And you’ll be saying ‘I remember when . . .’ 🙂

I won’t write as much as I did this morning (I miss chatting to you!) I’ll just say I hope you’re having fun, we all miss you loads and oh, did you try to send me a message by pigeon? One landed on me today (I KNOW ewwww!) If it was you, the approach needs work. Gave me quite a start. Plus, it had lost the letter. Maybe try a drone next time?! Sometimes modern is good.

I’ll be scanning the skies ’til Friday.

All my love Mummy (and Daddy, who’s out, Cora who’s asleep and Sparky, who’s oblivious) xxxxxxxxxx

  7. Nadir's mum says:

Wow! What a busy day you had!

  11. Mae's mum says:

Wowzers, Mae it sounds like you’re doing some amazing stuff!

We will have to have our own survival challenge here at home. Isla was missing you this evening so maybe I can make her an assault course using duvets and boxes. I hope you enjoyed pasta and meatballs and choc cake and custard (definitely custard). Thinking of you all the time lovecake junior and sending you loads of kisses.

    Mum xxxx

  12. Janice (Richard's mum) says:

Thanks for the update on Day 2! Hmmm… think that might be chocolate custard. Looks great. It sounds like another fantastic day with lots of fresh air and challenges. Love the before and after bivouac pics – looks like a cosy woodland nest for a snooze. And Franny, you appear to be quite the relaxed baker. I bet it tasted great. Big hug to Richard. Pav, dad and I are coping ok without you, I guess, but by Friday we’ll getting pretty zany. Happy Birthday to Charlotte and Archie and hope you have all had a great sleep after all that work! Janice xo

  13. Liz and Andy Linden says:

    Dear Archie,
Sounds like you had a great birthday. Dad and I thought about you all day and wondered what you were up to. How fantastic that your friends all sang Happy Birthday to you. I hope you found the card that I put in your suitcase! I hope you are sleeping well there. The chocolate cake looks good. Sounds like you are busy with lots of interesting activities.
Hope you and all your friends have a great day tomorrow.
Love from Mum, Dad and Jasper cat. Xxx

  14. Vicky, Ian and Louie says:

    Hi Olivia,

Sounds as though you’re all having great fun. Hope your bread was in the tasty (rather than burnt) range. The dens look great and glad to hear you’ll be able to keep us all alive if we ever find ourselves stranded in a wilderness.

Poppy and Big Zee say they like the idea of a woodland bumble, but are less keen on river study. They’re also prowling outside your room and would really like a ball or two of your wool to create havoc around the house. But mostly, they’re telling me that they’re looking forward to lots of strokes and cuddles when you get back.

Louie meanwhile is finding life without big sis a little less fun that he’d expected – he has no-one to annoy and it’s so quiet without the squabbling! Hope you got his messages. Still, I’ve promised him a trip to Belgo tomorrow so he can pig out on moules frites, so it can’t be all bad.

We’re all missing you loads and really looking forward to hearing all about your adventures.

Lots of love, Mummy, Daddy, Louie, Big Zee and Poppy xxxxx

PS A belated happy birthday to Charlotte, too!

  15. Vicky, Ian and Louie says:

  18. Jodie says:

    Dear Euan,
I hope you are surviving the challenges! Alfie and I miss you terribly. That breakfast sounds good, it’s making me hungry. I hope you are sleeping well and I hope you are enjoying yourself with your friends. Two days in and I can’t wait for you to be home! Love you mister, lots of love mum and Alfie xxx

  19. Imen's family says:

    Hello Imen!!!

I bet you are having a great time! Did you wake up at 6 am?
    How was your day?
Did you made the best bread? I know you love baking…
What about your shelter? Was it cosy?

Lucky you, they cooked you one of your favourite dish! Not to mention the chocolate pudding.
I hope you are learning a lot and you have developed a “can do attitude”, remember everything is possible, the sky is the limit.
We miss you a lot Xxx

    Take care xxxxxxxx

  20. Jack and Elliot says:

Hey Franny! Nice to see how much fun you’re having. I hope the bread was more like it was made by Candice than Val! Keep up the good work and enjoy the rest of your time. XX brothers. P.S We really do miss you here…

  21. Matt says:

Hello Trixie! It sounds like you’re having an amazing time. We’re all jealous, especially Sparky – you know how much she loves a woodland bumble! And you’re making bread, I’m impressed! Did you find the notes we hid in your suitcase? Say hi to everyone and keep having fun!

    Lots of love
    Daddy and Cora xxxxxxxxxx

  22. Pip & Rannie says:

Hope you miss us a tiny bit. How’s being in Kent Rannie’s asking ?

    Lots of love

  23. Nico/Jen/Mark says:

    Hi Sabina,

Sounds like you having an excellent time, braving the wilderness with walks and beehive challenges. I wonder which group you are in and if one of those shelters belonged to you? Or if your bread making skills helped you with your fireside cooking? On the home front things are pretty quite without you. We’ve discovered that Emily is a big fan of David Attenborough. Last night ‘Life of Birds’ held her attention for 20 minutes! Enjoy your adventures; we will see you soon!

    Love, Mummy, Daddy and Nico

  24. Campbell Walker says:

Hi Cameron – sounds like you are having a brilliant time! The shelters you built look great I don’t think Bear Grylls could have done any better! You are being missed at home as Mum and Scarlett were almost late for school because you weren’t there to keep them orgnaised!

Have a brilliant week! – see you Friday – Dad

  25. Lucy says:

Love Mummy, Daddy and Zaki (who can’t wait to have you back so he can wrestle you) xxx

  28. Stuart (Juliet's dad) says:

    Stuart (Juliet’s dad) says

    Hey Juliet

This all sounds great fun. Hope you’re getting a kick out of it and having a lovely time with your mates. Love the sound of the Great Ashmount Bake Off outdoors version! Great you could celebrate Archie joining the elite club of Year Six 11 year olds! And very pleased to learn what a Woodland Bumble is. When you get back, you’ll have to put that new can-do growth mindset to work by build a replica of that log shelter in the garden.

Looking forward to seeing you at the weekend, sweetheart. It’s very quiet here without you. That said, as I write this, there’s a small black fur bundle on the shed with a pressing message. Over to Gwen: Me-in. Me-out. Me-in. Me-out. She’s pining for you. And your mummy and daddy are too. See you soon, darling. Seven samurai! xxx

  29. Kevwe's family says:

    Hiya Kevwe,
No secret that Project House Free Zone of Kevwe was a welcomed delight for daddy 🙂 Day 1 was a family trip to café for full English breakfast with no sharing in the equation, but ended up sharing with mum and Oliver. Dinner table conversation continued the unintended Project House Free Zone dissatisfaction 🙁 Between mum’s relationship with WhatsApp and “do you know there is no post on Kevwe’s school blog yet? added with Oliver’s continuous “daddy I want Peter rabbit”, I wondered where my dinner table debate with you was. The project already hit crisis on day 1.
Day 2 started with Oliver’s “daddy where is Kevwe?” and “ Kevwe is gone with Henni and Henni’s mum with big car to the park” and also, the lack of pre – school run negotiation depending on what side of the bed you got up was surprisingly missed. I threw the towel out… the project failed on day 2.
Ok, wipe that smile off, you said “you’ll miss me and appreciate me more” … … well, yes, we truly do…
After all said, this trip is about YOU enjoining the experience and having a fabulous and memorable time with your friends.
We love you loads. A huge hug from dad, mum and Oliver.
PS. Happy birthday to Archie and Charlotte and thank you Salman for such fun and informative blog.

    Hi Sid,
All looks like a whole lot of fun. Georgie has realised that this place is really dull without you (even though she would never admit it). I hope you boys are out of the woods in one piece and have won the tidiest room award …

We can’t wait to hear all about it! Love and miss you lots!

All our love mum and Georgie xxxxxx

  41. Amy's family says:

    Hi Amy.
I hope you’re having fun.I’ve made a cake for when you get back. Until then I miss you. 🙂 By Isabel.

Hello sweetheart. Thinking of you all the time. I hope the weather has been good, for all your outdoor activities. I’m feeling very jealous – I never had such an exciting school trip when I was at primary school. It’s quiet here without you. Looking forward to seeing you on Friday! Lots of love, Mummy xxx

  42. Laura, Declan, Luke and Tolly. says:

    Dear Patrick,

Hope you’ve had another great day! Looking forward to the update from Salman, no pressure mind! It seems ages since we waved you off but I know for you the time is flying with all your activities. Tolly says you shouldn’t worry about the PS4. He is taking very great care of it for you! Hope you are sleeping well in your well made bed. And we hope you are managing that rather large suitcase with all the compartments! Grandma and Pop have been asking after you too!
Wish Stephane a very Happy Birthday!

Lots of love from Mummy, Daddy, Luke and Tolly. XXXXX

  43. Nathalie and Andy says:

    Hi Matilda,

The activities look great and as a few other parents have mentioned, I am feeling slightly jealous to be stuck in old polluted London and not being able to do all this fun stuff with you (although, being part of the staff would also mean taking care of 60 children… which would also mean the usual “telling you to brush your teeth for the 10th time” multiplied by 60… that’s getting astronomical! so… nah… 😛 ).

Please write a lot in your diary and I hope you will tell us all about it and not just the usual “yeah, it was really fun”.

Are you missing my cooking? 🙂 🙂 🙂 (ok, not funny)

    Love,
    Mum and Dad xxxx

PS : Happy birthday to Archie, Charlotte, Stephane and Shae!

PPS: tomorrow is the first day of Autumn!

  44. Mario, Esther, Joost says:

Just wondering if Iva is procrastinating (from the Mexican word procatomathatelathon which means midnight snack) about making bacon pancakes…
Needless to say we’re missing her.

  45. Liz and Andy Linden says:

    Dear Archie,
Spurs won 5/0!!! 2 goals by Errickson, 1 by Lamela, one by Onomah and pen Br Jansssen. Yah.
