Following a few questions regarding the various things that have been going home for homework the last couple of weeks, I just wanted to clarify so we know what to expect.

Spelling
We are changing from giving out a new spelling list every week to focusing on the same list for 3 weeks. Each list will be based on a particular spelling rule, which we will look at in class, and send related exercises to complete at home each Friday. On the third week we will do the usual test to see whether the rule has been mastered before moving on.

Writing
The Myth Writing exercise we sent last week was a trial run – thank you to those who attempted it but we understand it was perhaps too much on top of everything else, and we will be focusing on just the Spelling as above from now on.

Maths
We will continue to send home some Maths to look at each week.

Home Learning Resource Packs
These contain a number of reusable resources that can be used for repeated practice of some key Year 5 skills, including times-tables, sentence formation and grammar terminology. Any time you can find to practice those your child finds most useful would be fantastic.

Sorry for any confusion over the changes – hopefully this clarifies but if you have any questions please ask in the comments or catch Lucy or I during the week.

Lastly, I apologise for not uploading the homework here on Friday – we are trying to get in to the habit of this but appreciate reminders. I will put it up from school tomorrow.
